What is Gut Health?

“Gut health” describes the function and balance of bacteria of the many parts of the gastrointestinal tract. Ideally, organs such as the esophagus, stomach and intestines all work together to allow us to eat and digest food without discomfort.

It is a term increasingly used in the medical literature and by the food industry. It covers multiple positive aspects of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract, such as the effective digestion and absorption of food, the absence of GI illness, normal and stable intestinal microbiota, effective immune status and a state of well-being. 

According to a national survey of more than 2,000 U.S. adults, 72 per cent said they have experienced at least one of the gastrointestinal (GI)  symptoms a few times a month or more.

About the Workshop :
